My name is Devon Grubbs, and I am a survivor of sexual assault. When I was 13, a new student at Archer School For Girls, I was sexually assaulted by a classmate on two separate instances. At first, I didn’t understand what had happened. I was young, and trauma can be hard for the brain to process. yet even without knowing the definition of sexual assault, I knew something was wrong. I became a shell of myself, blaming myself for actions I didn’t commit. I couldn’t look at my body in the mirror, I couldn’t go out of the house, and I had lost the ability to feel safe.<\/p>

When I finally got the courage and approached my school about what had happened, I was hoping for support, empowerment, and advice. Instead, I was met with threats of expulsion, the condition being that unless I kept quiet about my assault, I would not be allowed back to school. I was told I was lying, spreading rumors, and “hurting my assaulter’s feelings.” I was afraid, silenced from sharing my story, and it became the darkest point of my life.<\/p>

Now, four years later, I have dedicated myself to making sure survivors can share their stories, that every survivor knows that at least one person believes them. Victim blaming is so prominent because it protects people not wanting to change their ways, and HAVE A VOICE will stop that. The resources on this page are ones that helped me heal, and I hope at least one survivor will find peace that this entire website, and all of its contents, were made by someone who understands what they are going through.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
